It is a beautiful and special day today here at Simply Gorgeous By Erin, meet our newest Connecticut makeup assistant, Julie Rondini. This is the first wedding Julie did alone and it is also her debut on the blog! Julie had the pleasure of doing makeup for bride Alicia and her bridal party. Alicia was a very natural, fresh faced bride and was sweet as can be. The wonderful Jerome Braga of Studio1923 was clicking away with his camera and shared these beautiful image with us. It also turns out, as you will see from one of the images apparently he is also a famous hair stylist! .

Spring 2012 Eyebrow Trends

It is always fun to see past looks come back into the trends and be re-purposed. Right now on the run way and showing up on beauty looks everywhere are thicker brows. When I say thick, I mean ticker than ever, so its time to grow yours in, the faster the better. This lends to being able to really play with gorgeous eye makeup, hair styles and achieve a new you for the Spring. I know, this is a trend, but that is what is so wonderful about beauty. Trends gives you the opportunity to try new things, to change your look and have fun. Don’t like it you can change it up once again. What do you think about this Spring 2012 eyebrow trend?

All American Beauty A Dying Breed?

We’ve all heard the phrase, All American Beauty, right? But what does that mean? Define that for me, please. Can you anymore? It used to be blonde-haired, blue-eyed with peaches and cream skin. Is that the case anymore? Look around us. Look at the television, magazine racks, reality shows. Who is the “girl next door” now? We have a much more diverse country now. I go on Pinterest and pin beauty images to my “Inspiration for My Work” board and it ranges from blue eyes and brown hair to ebony skin with a wild, natural afro to mixed raced beauties. This is the new “All American” beauty; diversity. Can we say the cookie cutter image of beauty is completely gone? Probably not since plastic surgery seems to pop out the same noses and lips seem to be injected to all look like Angelina Jolie but I think we’ve come a long way. We can now begin to truly say all women are beautiful. All races are beautiful. Show me one woman who doesn’t have some beautiful feature. You can’t; everyone has beauty.

I read this article and was inspired to write this blog post and share some images of what I call American Beauty. America is the melting pot of races so in reality, there is no one look that defines this term and as a woman and a makeup artist I LOVE that!

Remember bride Kelly last week and her beautiful nautical theme at the Old Saybrook Point Inn? Today meet Lauren who was a bridesmaid in Kelly’s wedding. I had the opportunity to do the makeup for Lauren and all her bridesmaids, for her beautiful wedding at The Marquee in Hartford CT. I cannot say enough how much I adore working with repeat clients. It is so fun to see such a close group of friends again in each others weddings. Referrals from past brides to their friends are something very, very special to me. It was such a pleasure to be part of Lauren’s day and you just have to head over to photographer Eric Foley’s blog and see all the wonderful wedding details.

Wedding season is here! Here is some nautical inspiration from Kelley and Scott’s Old Saybrook Point Inn Wedding shot by Heather of Powerstation Events . Who doesn’t love a beautiful summer New England wedding by the ocean. I just love the tranquility of the sea and Kelley and Scott got a beautiful perfect New England summer day. It was a lot of fun doing Kelley’s makeup and all of her fun and sweet bridesmaids. In fact it was like seeing old friends, just a few weeks before I had seen the same bunch for one of the bridesmaids wedding. That is the best part of what I do, being part of such a special day and often being part of friends weddings through their years of getting married. Have you been to the new Everythine Bridal Boutique in Madison, CT yet? It is just beautiful! A bridal boutique not for your typical bride full of white light and the most ethereal atmosphere. I was invited to come for Everythine’s newest added service, A Picture Perfect appointment where the bride gets full VIP treatment. During the 3 hour appointment the bride and her guests get the boutique all to themselves along with celebratory champagne, savory treats, a bouquet, hair, makeup and so much more. The most important detail is a talented photographer will be there to capture the moment, something I would have loved to look back on myself . We all know the gown is what makes you feel like a bride and makes your big day. For this special Picture Perfect appointment I was there for makeup along with, Market Flowers, Perfect Parties and the so incredibly talented Michelle Gardella Photography. I just love seeing these moments! What a special thing to be able to have to share and look back on for years to come.
